Thanksgiving Feast Book Tag

 This tag was created by Elley The Book Otter. I have been reading the same long book for over two weeks now so I have been in the mood for a book tag. I honestly found this one by simply googling "Thanksgiving Book Tag" but it sounded fun, so here we go. Be prepared though, you may get kind of hungry reading the prompts. 

Turkey: The centerpiece of any Thanksgiving Feast, but it’s always dry and actually isn’t that great… – A book that everyone likes, for some reason that completely escapes you.

Stuffing: Warm and filling, and best when smothered with gravy – A comfort read.

Potatoes: Boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a stew – A book that’s great in any format – hardcover, digital, audio…

Green bean casserole: the obligatory side dish that you have to have… whether you want it for not. – A book that you were obligated to read (for school, for a book club, because it was a gift…)

Jello salad: Look, this is dessert, how on earth does jello with bits of fruit and marshmallows and whipped cream get classified as ANY sort of salad? – A book that is really bizarre.

Cranberries: Do you serve real cranberries, or canned cranberry jelly? A book that is highly divisive – and you have strong opinions about it.

Pie: Whether it’s pumpkin, apple, pecan, or French silk, it’s not Thanksgiving without pie – A book you can’t live without.

Per usual I wasn't actually tagged to do this but I saw some other people doing it and thought it would be fun.

Hardback or Paperback?

Paperbacks; their cheaper, easier to read, and weigh less when your'e trying to carry multiple books with you at once because you may or may not have a problem...

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?

If we are going with books I have to say Harry Potter, but on the movie front LOTR all the way. I mean...Orlando Bloom as an elf...yes, please.

Stephen King or R.L. Stine?

I've only ever seen Stephen King movies and only ever read R.L. Stine books. I have no real opinion on either. 

Sci-Fi or Fantasy? 

Sci-Fi, because my inner science nerd like to come out of hiding sometimes and frolic through the pages. 

Reading indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors, when it doesn't feel like hell's back door, but considering I live in South Florida I usually want to die after about 5 minutes and go inside where the A/C can swaddle me in it's cold embrace....

Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey?

No.

Shopping online or local?

Local, because I always end up buying wayyyy to many books at one time online which, of course, makes my Pisa tower of books lean ever so more until it falls and crushed me under its ominous weight. I obviously need to work on my ability to tower my excessively large selection of unread books. 

The Great Gatsby or The Catcher in the Rye?

The Catcher in the Rye, though if I'm going to read a classic, I'm more of a Hamlet kind of girl. 

Fiction or Nonfiction?

Fiction. I'm too on-again-off-again with nonfiction. 

Bookmarks or Dog-earing?

Bookmarks, because it gives me a place to hide all the scrap paper and such from my desk because apparently throwing things away is just too difficult for me to wrap my head around. 

Dr. Seuss or Roald Dahl? 

I'm going to have to say Dr. Seuss because The Grinch is basically the best thing ever, and I've never read anything from Roald Dahl.

E-Book or Audiobook? 

E-book; I always end up either zoning out or falling asleep when I listen to audiobooks. Though, I will say that I really like it when people voice their own books, especially when its a memoir.

Fall Activities Book Tag

Fall Activities Book Tag (originally created by Dreaming Through Literature)

Today I decided to participate in another book tag, mostly because it's been awhile, but also because I just really enjoy doing these. So lets get into it!

APPLE PICKING 

A book on your TBR that looks so delicious that you can't wait to take a bit out of it. 

Something about the little comments on the cover and everything just make me love the look of this book, plus the story sounds like it's going to be a fun read, I can't wait to devour this one.

CORN MAZE 

A book that's so much fun to get lost in.

As I have said before and I will probably say again, this series as a whole is just so much fun! Sherlock Holmes and the supernatural; I can't get enough of this.

HAUNTED HOUSES 

A book that scared you silly.

So I haven't actually finished this yet, but it has been giving me a lot of chills so far. The fact that it takes the whole zombie genre but twists it with different mental illnesses really makes it seem incredibly realistic and slightly terrifying. 

PUMPKIN PATCH 

The latest book you picked up (purchased).

I have been wanting this book for so long and now that there's another one I got to jump on this ASAP. Besides the whole motorcycle and wolf thing on the cover is kind of awesome.

SCENIC DRIVES 

A book that is lyrically beautiful.

This book is such a beautifully tragic story as a whole, just the fact that it takes place from the deaths perspective is lyrically something else.

PUMPKIN CARVING 

A book you didn't like and wouldn't mind carving up. 

I was so disappointed with this book. Bianca pretty much made all her circumstances worse for herself and she needed someone to knock some sense into her. 

HIKING

A book that was a highly enjoyable romp.

Whenever I hear the word 'romp' I immediately think of the ridiculousness that is this book; always a favorite. 

DRINKING APPLE CIDER

A sweet book to curl up under the covers with.

All fairy-tale retelling are prime under the covers books but this one especially for me; it's sweet, easy to read, and a great story in general. I will admit it's been some years since I've read this but I used to absolutely love it, so I should probably reread this actually...

JUMPING IN A LEAF PILE 

A book that reminds you of your childhood. 

I'm sure most people will put Harry Potter for this but I mean, it's like the ultimate series. The first two specifically remind me of my childhood though. No shame, I was an HP character for Halloween once...or twice, but I feel like everyone has at some point.

SCARY MOVIE NIGHT 

Your favorite spooky read. 

I will never talk about this book or series enough, LOVE IT! It's creepy, mysterious and actually kind of witty too. Such a great Halloween read for anyone looking for suggestions *wink-wink*

BONUS! COSTUME PARTY 

A book with an eclectic cast of characters.



All the characters in this book are crazy in their own way...enough said.

Some Of My Favorite Halloween and Fall Reads

It's only two weeks until Halloween and I'm already getting super pumped. I love seeing fall and Halloween decorations everywhere, and it's a holiday. Holidays are the best. Anyways, I felt like it was about time that I shared some of my favorite spooky season reads with you guys! As well as some that I really want to pick up asap! I hope you enjoy.

My Favorites 

• All the Beautiful People (A Dread Novel) by Jonathan Yanez 
  I actually just did I review on this last week so I wont go into to much detail here, but this books is definitely a great spook season read! It's got zombies, a classic, as well as a look into peoples psyche and inner demons. Like, what? It's a little crazy when you first look at it but it really grows on you. Plus the kick-ass/creepy zombie fight scenes leave you wanting more. 
• Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven & Other Tales: A Graphic Novel by Edgar Allen Poe 
  This is a classic! This book includes; The Raven, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, The Black Cat, and The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether. All of which are insanely creepy, I mean, I don't think I will ever be able to look at a one-eyes cat or a raven the same ever again. *Chills*
• Crane (The Legends Saga #1) by Stacey Rourke 
  I have raved about this book so much, and I can't help myself. I mean, it's a headless horseman retelling and it is AMAZING. Definitly another great spook season read, it delves into what really happened to Ichabod Crane all those years ago, witches, and the curse of the headless horseman rising again...the question is, who will the first victim be? 
• The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey 
  Another zombie book that really mess you up. No lie, after reading this you may never look at zombie books the same way ever again. It really messes with your trust on such a classic concept. 
• Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Dexter #1) by Jeff Lindsay 
  I just had to add a crime thriller on this list, and Dexter is basically my favorite serial killer of all time. I will say I like the show better than the book (*whimpers* Please don't kill me, I know it's blasphemy to say such things but it's true) but the book is different than the show so you really get two stories in one. *thumbs-up?*
• The Haunting of Sunshine Girl (The Haunting of Sunshine Girl #1) by Paige McKenzie 
  Ghost stories! I feel like ghost stories are so underrated and they are one of my favorite spooky reads kind of books. And I have to say that the beginning of this story definitely nailed the spook factor. It was creepy, and realistic and ugh, just so haunting; I need more. BRING ON THE GHOSTS!!!
• Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children #1) by Ransom Riggs 
  I'm sure most of you have read this book by now, but I couldn't not put it on here. Ransom Riggs nails the whole; pas meets present. sketchy people, and circus freaks kind of theme and I loved it. Plus the creatures literally make my cringe, I couldn't ask for more. 
• The Man in the Picture by Susan Hill 
  Susan Hill needs more love. She is the author of The Woman in Black which is one of my favorite ghost movies. The Man in the Picture is one of those books that are great for this season! It's got questionable paintings, Venetian carnivals (you know, the one with the masks) and eerie secrets. SO GOOD.

Pokémon Go Book Tag

So I've been a little absent lately, I know. But today in an attempt to get back on track with my blogging, which I do really enjoy, I thought I would start up again with a book tag and since Pokemon GO is EVERYWHERE (yes, I do play it...no shame) I figured this would be a great tag to jump back in on! This tag was created by readatmidnight, Enjoy! 

Reading has always had a special place in my heart, but I would be lying if I said I've always been an avid reader, I mean, my childhood was full of running through fields and forests, creating triangle bridges and the likes. But I have to say that the earliest book I can remember being totally wrapped up in was one of the MaryKate and Ashley books... I know...Yet, the book that really got into the reading phase I am in now would probably be Wings by Aprilyn Pike. 

I would have to say that this would have to be a tie between Pride and Prejudice and Hamlet. Austen stories are always interesting and it's the closest I ever really come to reading a contemporary book. However, I oddly find Hamlet to be pretty funny and the story is kind of ridiculous so that obviously makes it a love of mine...Hmmm...the more I talk about this the more I would have to say that I also really love Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and so many more. 

Like many others, I would have to say that Truthwitch is starting to become less and less appealing to me. At first I thought it sounded interesting but now I can;t go anywhere without seeing it (that's only a bit of an exaggeration, right?) 

This is really hard for me to answer. I feel like a majority of books now are not novel in any way really, but that doesn't make me enjoy them any less, most of the time. However, I feel like this especially applies to dystopia books, eg. Red Rising, Divergent, Hunger Games, etc, 

So many. Though if I had to choose one the main one would have to say the Outlander series. I hear they are so good and I absolutely love historical fiction, but the size of the ever growing series is becoming incredibly intimidating to me. I am, however, determined to, at the very least, read the first book in the series so I can determine for sure if the size is worth it. 

I am in no way a night person. However, I have gotten out of bed early so I could get back to certain books ASAP. One of course being, Winter, the book had me captured all day every day until I finished it. No lie. Oddly though, it wasn't even that it was necessarily good, but because I just had to know how the story ended! PS. Winter was my least favorite book out of all of them, it's only saving grace being that Cress and Thorne's relationship was just too damn cute. 

Speak of too damn cute couples, Cress and Thorne killed me. I won't go into it because everyone whose read the series knows exactly what I am talking about. But there are so many adorable and amazing ones out there that it's hard to just choose one. 

I could almost say that most stand-alone books are kind of fast-paced. However, some obviously stand out in this field. For one, The Haunting of Sunshine Girl started off pretty quick and had thing after thing happen very quickly. Yes, I will have to say that it definitely sizzled towards the end, but that was mainly the fact that it started to loose its creepy factor, not necessarily that things slowed down. 

All I have to say about this one is that I am super pumped for the Red Rising spin-off to come out. Pierce Brown know what he's doing and I already feel like I am going to absolutely love the spin-off as well!

No lie, my expectations for the Relentless series was pretty non existent when I was going into the first book, but it oddly had my entranced the entire time, I just had to know what was going to happen next. Which is why the second book is on my TBR for next month. 

The Raven Cycle has been on my wishlist for too damn long. The series has been crazy hyped and I have even read the first book but I just haven't gotten around to reading the other three (mainly because I don;t have them). But seriously, this needs to happen as soon as possible. 

The MinaLima illustrated edition of Peter Pan is one of the most beautiful and amazing book editions I have ever seen. I am in love. It's got pull out maps, wings, and beautiful chapter illustrations, I can't get enough of it. 

Not only is How To Hang a Witch one of the most additions to my wishlist, but it also comes out really soon and is the debut novel I'm most excited for! It's got witches and has to do with Salem, plus it apparently has a bit of a Mean Girls aspect. I have a feeling I am definitely going to like this. 

So many! But I would have to say Pierce Brown and Marissa Meyer are definitely at the top of the list. I have loved ever book I have read by both of them. Neither of them can do any wrong. 

Oh my goodness, the true struggle am I right? Okay, I acknowledge that this is basically a first world problem. Regardless when they go down it sucks, almost as much as waiting for books that seem to be 'coming out soon' for ever! I mean, Winds of Winter has been a true life form of torture to many fans for YEARS. Also I am ridiculously excited for Heartless and Gemina to come out. I mean, the first is an Alice and Wonderland retelling, which are my favorite, and the latter just need to be in my hand right now. No joke, if I got my hands on any of these books I would probably drop everything to read them.  

On another note, who likes Pokemon? I used to be really into it when I was younger and I doubt I;m the only one.
